Beautiful Spear Point Knife made 12-15 years ago by Bill Wolf of Scottsdale, AZ

Todd Kopp Dagger

Todd Kopp Dagger

Todd makes one or two knives a year. Part of the reason is because of how much time he spends on creating these beautiful art pieces. This on has Devon Thomas Damascus with blued steel guard and end cap. Carved mammoth tooth ivory inlayed with 22 -24 K gold rope and nuggets from Alaska.

Mad Bull Knives

I got a call from Jake Tuinstra today. He sold out of all of his knives this past weekend. Only ones left at this moment for sale are the ones I have on my website: http://www.sonorandesertknives.com/Jake_Tuinstra.php

Knife taken from Billy McNeely’s back after three years

Doctors in Canada have removed a knife blade from a man’s back more than three years after he was stabbed in a fight.

Billy McNeely of the Northwest Territories told local media he had suffered itching and minor pain but did not know the blade was still embedded.

This week, his nail caught the tip of the 7.5cm blade and uncovered it.

“I’ve done some jail time in the past,” he said. “The guards rub over you with a metal wand detector, and every time it hit my back… it went off.”

In April 2010, McNeely got into a fight after an arm wrestling match and was stabbed five times, he told the Canadian Press news agency.

Doctors at the local accident and emergency room stitched him up but never took an X-ray, he said. Seeking subsequent treatment for the lingering discomfort, he was told he had suffered nerve damage.

But this week, McNeely, 32, was scratching his back as usual when his fingernail caught on something. His girlfriend took a look.

“I told Billy: ‘There’s a knife sticking out of your back.’ I was scared. I was ready to pull it out with tweezers,” Stephanie Sayine told CBC News.

McNeely is considering whether to file a lawsuit against the local health department.

Steve Hoel Knives

Born in Arizona in 1940, Steve made his first hunting knife in 1952 selling his first one ten years later. Exposed to high quality knives very early by spending time with Bob Loveless and Steve Johnson when they were partners. Known by many as perhaps the father of the interframe, he started making single and multiblade folders in the mid seventies. Steve has made Bowies, boot knives, and daggers, but his investor class folding knives in lockback and slipjoint design are collector favorites. His steels of choice are 154CM, ATS-34, 416, and commercial damascus. He favors natural materials for scales and inlays such as various woods, mother of pearl, fossil ivories, sheep horn, abalone, jade, and many others. His knives are favored for engraving by many of the top artists in the field. Steve has been a Knifemakers Guild member since 1978 and he is one of the featured artists in David Darom’s first class book, “Art and Design in Modern Custom Folding Knives”.

Goodbye folks – I won’t be able to make anymore knives

Post from the Jerzeedevil forum:

Ruben Calo

  Ruben Calo

I love making knives and I really enjoyed this path I’ve chose for my life, but sadly a change must come.

Mid 2012 I started to have some weird health issues, that ultimately turned out to be diagnosed as lung cancer, already extended to the pleura.

I had to stop working for a month or two, but eventually I managed to resume working, though at a much slower pace than before.

Chemo/rad wasn’t helping much, and about 10 days ago, probably due to lower defenses, I got a previous condition come back in force, forcing my wife to rush me to the ER to have an emergency surgery. They kept me at the ICU until today, when they finally cleared me to go rest at home.

As a result of both of these conditions, I won’t be able to keep working on knives or anything physical anymore.

I’ve already had the people with pending orders contacted on an individual basis, so this is my general farewell to knife making. I wanted you guys to know directly from the source so to speak.

I’ve enjoyed this journey immensely and for the last decade, it allowed me to interact with people all over the world. I started making knives because I loved them, and I hope all the ones I’ve made in all these years keep on serving the owners as intended.

I’d like to thank each one of you that purchased a knife from me and allowed me to live this dream of me for this long, and to everyone that ever saw a knife from me and thought it was a decent looking piece of cutlery.

From now on, all correspondence sent to me will be handled directly by my webmaster.

This is the last knife I’ve made, finished about 15 days ago, after several months of working on it

Show must go on.
